Applications are being accepted for Direct Support Professionals in our Intermediate Care Facilities (DSP-ICF). DSPs-ICF provide direct care needs of the residents in our intermediate facilities under the direction of supervisor, including but not limited to bathing, toileting, dressing, undressing, oral hygiene, grooming, lifting, feeding, and overall physical appearance, provision of fluids and documentation of required duties.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or a GED with a minimum of 6 months experience in a medical or nursing setting. College or vocational/technical training may substitute for experience.
- For purposes of effective communication with residents, families and staff, must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English.
- Ability to lift unassisted a minimum of 75 lbs (50 lbs from floor) or 150 lbs assisted and walk or stand up to eight hours.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Applications are being accepted for Direct Support Professionals in our Group Homes (DSP-GH) to provide direct care to developmentally disabled adults in our group homes and to partner with these individuals to facilitate daily care, enhance personal development, foster self-esteem and meet or exceed individualized goals for success.
The typical day of our DSPs-GH may include:
- Supporting persons with their daily living activities ( laundry, recreation, meal preparation, transportation, on-the-job support).
- Fostering positive relationships between the clients served and their housemates.
- Communicating pertinent information with families, supervisor, co-workers and others.
- Ensuring that proper medication/therapies or other services are provided according to the Service Plan for that individual.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or a GED.
- For purposes of effective communication with residents, families and staff, must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English.
- A minimum of one year experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or childcare setting, or working with persons who have developmental disabilities. College of vocational/technical training equal to 30 semester hours can substitute for required experience.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of Safety Care behavioral techniques.
- Must be able to stretch, push, pull, kneel, reach, twist, lift and walk or stand up to eight hours.
